Can you guess which Blue Jay this is?

At our last home basketball game, a LOT of our Blue Jays represented our team as the Warhawk mascot!

Can you guess which Blue Jays are in the mascot in this picture?

Science Fun!

Today we had a yummy treat in science! We enjoyed learning about the layers of the earth as we made an OREO model of the Earth's layers. Here's a picture of our model:

the OREO: the CRUST
the DOUBLE STUFF: the MANTEL
the CHOCOLATE SYRUP: the OUTER CORE
the M&M: the INNER CORE

Not only was our model yummy, but it is also an accurate representation of the Earth's layers. The outer crust is a thing, sold layer of rock, the mantel is the largest layer made of semi-solid structure (a lot like silly putty!), the outer core is so hot it is constantly in the liquid state, and the inner core is so tightly compacted that it vibrate like a solid similar to the M&M! Pretty cool, right?!

Check out the Links Page!

Students - I found a really cool website with arts and crafts from around the world! I highly recommend checking it out!!

Math Tests

Both AP and Honors will have math tests next week on Wednesday/Thursday.

For the honors group - fractions will show up on this test again! Make sure to review your old papers on fractions!

Website to Check Out

http://www.flashymaths.co.uk/swf/alien.swf

Students - These were the website we were playing in math today. Make sure you practice some this weekend! Remember, when you graph points, start at the origin (middle) and then move left or right first, then up or down.

For example - for the coordinates (3, -4) you would start in the middle, move to the right 3 spaces and then move down 4 spaces.

For the coordinates (-2, -4) you would start in the middle, move to the left 2 spaces and then move down 4 spaces.

Practice this weekend so that you can come in as an expert on Monday!!!
